As the girls climb up to the deck they see the purposed crew gracefully move through grim silence, perfectly coordinated as they prepare the ship to disembark. Quietly the girls tread the creaky deck hand in hand searching for Jessie.
“These monsters are kind of beautiful in their own obtuse way.”
The 2 girls turn towards the almost silent, deadpan whisper precisely striking towards them from a dark crease of shadow to their right. Out of the too close, inky blackness walks a tall, lithe woman of soft features, thick curls and crisp, sardonic eyes. A hidden wink and pinch hides in a single dimple as she coldly smiles at the 2 little girls.
‘is the crew...really monsters?’
“Heh, who isn’t a monster?”
...
‘are you a monster?’
A quick cold gust of salty sea air blows across their faces, stinging their eyes as a rosy and innocent blush rises to everyone’s cheeks.
...
“So you have joined the crew. Well I’m sure you’re just dying to know what your responsibilities are.”
‘are you...jessie?’
A cold smile rises to Jessie’s cavalier lips.
“Hello little ones.”
